GENERAL RULES
GENERAL RULES:
1. 36 hole stroke play event. The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play Local Rules are also in effect. Any questions on rules during the course of play should be directed to on-course rules officials by the players.
Any time a player is unsure of how to proceed and a rules official is not immediately available, a player may always proceed under Rule 20.1c(3) and play a second ball on that hole
Scorecards must be signed and attested before leaving the scoring table
Maximum score on a hole:
9-11 age group - triple bogey.
12-14 age group - nine on any hole
2. All players must check in at registration located at the 1st tee at least 30 minutes prior to their starting time. Players must report to the 1st tee no later than 5 minutes prior to tee time.
Penalty for arriving at 1st tee, ready to play, no more than 5 minutes after tee time: General Penalty
Penalty for arriving at 1st tee more than 5 minutes after tee time: Disqualification
3. Players may use a device that measures or gauges distance. The device cannot be used to measure slope/gradient.
4. Pace of play is important. Always be ready to play when it is your turn and be sure that your group maintains its position with the group in front of yours. Groups that fall behind will be subject to penalty under the Rules of Golf.
5. Caddies are not permitted. Players must walk the course. Players may use pull carts. Motorized carts of any kind are prohibited.
6. Spectators are allowed but may not give any advice to players. This includes but is not limited to club selection, breaks and speed on greens, distances to holes, course management, rules interpretations, etc. Spectators may assist any player with a search for lost balls.
7. Spectators are asked to NOT use cell phones near players during competition, and to keep ringers in the “off” or “vibrate” mode.
8.Golf etiquette is an essential part of the game. Players and spectators are expected to behave in accordance with the Rules of Golf. Players are responsible for replacing divots, repairing ball marks and raking bunkers.
9. Any misconduct or unbecoming behavior by a player, their parent/guardian or spectators may result in the disqualification of the player from the event, or the removal of the parent/guardian or spectator from the facility. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, throwing clubs, use of vulgar or obscene language, drinking, use of tobacco, and abuse of players, spectators or tournament volunteers.
10. Only use the practice hitting net when you are within 30 minutes of your tee time and limit your practice to 5 minutes if other players are waiting to use the net.
11. Dress Code: Golf attire required. Ie. no T-shirts or jeans.
12. The age requirement is 9 - 18. High school seniors are eligible to play until their date of graduation.
13. Participation in our golf tournament and related activities as a player or spectator includes known and unknown risks involved with participation. Players and their Spectators KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF Catalina Jr Golf, their officers, volunteers, sponsors and partners. Participants assume full responsibility for their participation; and RELEASE FROM LIABILITY, Catalina Jr Golf, their officers, volunteers, sponsors and partners, for any injuries, illness, disability, death, loss or damage to person or property arising out of participation in the golf tournament or related activities. Participants will follow golf course rules, which includes not allowing minors to drive golf carts.
PLAYOFF PROCEDURE:
Tie for 1st Place will be determined by a sudden-death playoff starting on hole #1 then #9 and repeating until a player wins a hole
Ties for 2nd and 3rd Place will be determined by a scorecard playoff using the USGA recommended method:
Lowest score over the final 9-holes of the competition
If still tied, lowest score over the final 6 holes of the competition
If still tied, lowest score over the final 3 holes of the competition
If still tied, start with final hole and match scores going backwards; the first player to have a lower score on a hole wins
